Building a Culture in Home Care Based On Trust

Here's a quick behind-the-scenes look at our recent virtual user conference. Listen to how our client, Jaimie Kunzman of Amada Senior Care of Tucson is building a truly connected culture with their home care workforce. She shares how their caregivers are building stronger relationships not only with the office but with each other as well.

Here is the full transcript.

"CoachUp  care really gives caregivers the opportunity to get to know one another. And I think that, that, that is a beautiful thing because usually these caregivers are on 12 hour shifts by themselves. We don't really get to meet each other. But yeah, we've seen roommates come about, we've seen best friends come about, and we get to celebrate each other, not with like, just the big things, but the little things as well. And it's really cool. Just the relationships that I've seen other caregivers build with each other.

When we got up and running, I would spend about 15 to 20 minutes a day. And now CoachUp Care is pretty much to the point where I spend five minutes a day. I'm taking a look at it just going through the feeds. But my caregivers essentially run this operation on their own now. So talk to us about that because I think that's a new concept for a lot of people on the line. I smile because I remember when you're like, I think we're gonna do it. I'm a little nervous to see what's gonna happen, but it turned out awesome. So could you talk to the, the folks about what that means? Your caregivers run this now? Yeah. So CoachUp Care does have a really cool option. Where you can enable the caregivers to post on the community connect board. So when we started off, it was just office stuff that was able to make postings, create the content, things of that nature.  But we are about a week into it, two weeks into it when I realized like my caregivers are reaching out to me, they wanna be able to share things too. So before I did that, I did make, you know, the expectations of CoachUp Care really clear. Like this is a safe place, this is our community, it's our home treated as such. And I turned it on and I, I haven't had anything pop up that, you know, shouldn't be there. They've really been super respectful. It's really cool. It's a really cool thing to watch the dynamic happen here. So, yeah. No, I don't regret it at all. I think it brought them closer together.

But for me in our office, what we've seen that has worked a lot with CoachUp Care is we use CoachUp Care not to send discipline in it. You know, we, we don't put policies on there. There's no discipline on CoachUp Care. We keep it very light, we keep it very bright. It is, it is our positivity ground. And since we've kind of made this a place where we build relationships, we see positivity, we post cool things. We've seen our caregivers, you know, really trust us in ways because I'll post pictures of my dogs. I'll post pictures of my personal life, you know, out with my kids and stuff and it, it makes them realize that I'm just like them, which I think fueled our, you know, our relationships and them trusting us more than they used to when we are kind of just the man in the box. So now I have caregivers more willing to pick up shifts, they communicate, you know, difficulties getting the shifts and we're, we're, we can navigate those um obstacles a lot easier nowadays. But my best advice is just try it, just try it because you won't, you won't regret it. It is. It, I don't know what these guys over here at CoachUp Care do, but it really, really does just bring your company together."
